How to prepare for your engagement session or wedding photos at San Juan Capistrano Mission

The Mission San Juan Capistrano is one of the most beautiful places in all of Orange County and taking photos for your engagement or wedding will make for stunning images that you will cherish for a lifetime. There are some rules to using the Mission San Juan Capistrano for photos. As an Orange County Wedding and Engagement photographer, I’ve made an easy list to make sure that you are prepared.

There Is A Permit Fee:

Every session whether family, engagement or wedding requires a permit and a permit. You must email ahead of time. Make sure that that they are not over booked on photo permits and secure at date and time.

Your Photographer Must Show Proof Of Insurance:

Make sure that your photographer is insured and can prove it with a COI at the time of booking. The Mission San Juan Capistrano is one of Orange County’s most historic and beloved destinations and they want to make sure that is is being treated correctly. Having insurance on file for each photographer allows for more accountability and for us to continue using such a beautiful place for photos. I know as an Orange County Engagement and Wedding Photographer, I don’t ever want to lose the ability to shoot at this gorgeous mission.

Check In At Your Session Time:

There is a special desk for photographers. You will check with you name and be given a lanyard to a photo permit badge. Photographers must wear the lanyard during their sessions at all times and return it at the end of your session.

Be Respectful And Quiet:

There is still an active Catholic Church at The Mission San Juan Capistrano and people praying there daily. While photo shoots can be fun, we do want to be respectful of the church and the mission grounds.

There May Be A Bit Of A Crowd:

The Mission San Juan Capistrano is a very popular destination for locals and tourists alike. Among guests visiting there is more than likely other photographers and groups taking photos as well. Being patient and waiting for a lull or your spot in line for a location may happen. As an Orange County Wedding and Engagement photographer, waiting a few minutes for one of the most beautiful places is Orange County is worth it.
